A brief origin of corruption and its bane in the contemporary society

            A BRIEF ORIGIN OF CORRUPTION
AND ITs BANE IN THE CONTEMPORARY
           SOCIETY BY LENE ODODOMU

The character of this man by the arrow; named Chief James Ikedi in the novel of Chinua Achebe's Arrow of God, is best suitable to limn the word neocolonialism under the theme of post-colonialism, whereby disillusionment shadowed the theme. As the  neo-colonialists are best described in Ngugi's Devil on the Cross, he was one of the corrupt and bad African leaders who copied the mentality of the Europeans to control the affairs of his fellow Africans unfairly.

The organic problem of Africa today and Nigeria in particular, is this course and it is an inherited bane that is difficult to vomit without swallowing it back. That is why in the contemporary sphere, a woman cannot get a job or be employed without undergoing a condition by sleeping with the boss.
.......Or a man without undergoing a condition by bribing  the employer to get a job, even in the higher institutions.

We crucified the Europeans. Or let me make it understandable: we chased  them (Europeans) away in a form of INDEPENDENCE because we were not pleased with their presents just like this saying, that says Ghana must go. But what is the permutation? We begged to borrow their clothes and showed to our fellow Africans that 'these were the same clothes that the Europeans wore'......therefore, we must obey and respect them in same way we did to the whites.

In Nigeria, the incident of Military intervention in the affairs of the government shows a clarion evidence that the Civilians were so corrupt and that was why the country, Nigeria was retrogressive according to them. But a bird of same feathers, they were tantamount to the Civilians because the corruption was still in existence. I won't mention name, but  a prominent member of the Military who is deceased that peculate billions of dollars which was recovered from his account.

Don't be surprised or complain about the maladministration and faux-pas of the current Nigeria because those people are still in existence- that is why the country's narrative is left undone for progress.

The reality is in the sky......that is very difficult to touch and bring down to the earth to be seen by everyone in this present moment. The youths of today are the only people, who are not infested with this disease of the Europeans  that can change the narrative of this country. I commend the ambition of Yul  Edochie for declaring his intention for the seat of presidency. Like I said above, the reality is far that's why he couldn't achieve the feat in his primaries. But we can still touch it in the sky by lifting each other to build a ladder that can reach the sky💪💪💪.
